How to Participate

Neighbors, join us at our free meetings
Combined HooDooCh3 project, Bonner County CERT Program, and www.inwPrep.com (find details on calendar there).
Also, join us at check-ins; see the Comments Page . . .

Some folks want to work silently, privately, in the background.
Some folks want to be active and help create a sense of community.
There's something for everyone!  Let's take a look . . . .

OK, you're not one for getting out, but you want to help your neighbors.  You may not even have a ham radio.  That's fine!  Thanks to AMRRON's Channel 3 Project (amrron.com/communications-resources/ch3-project/)  you can be a vital part of the safety and security of your neighborhood!  Most Friday evenings (esp. 1st & 3rd), at 7PM, there is a local AMRRON net in 146.420. . . . So join us!  During that session, local ham operators will attempt to contact non-hams via MURS, CB or "walkie talkies" (FRS, GMRS) on channel 3.  Local conditions and alerts can then be relayed throughout the region.  If you contact us (HooDooRadio@earthlink.net ), we'll know to contact you!

Others like to get more active with socials, CERT Training, etc.  They'll still participate in the Channel 3 nets, but also meet in person.  Locally, some participants get to know each other through various preparedness groups such as www.inwPrep.com .  Bonner, Kootenai, Boundary and even WA-MT folks come together for free workshops and classes throughout the month, or socially (see website).  As always, there is no requirement to be a licensed ham operator.  CB, MURS, FRS, GMRS radios all work, and we'll help you get set up, even programming your radios!

<<<---  So, BEFORE this happens, you'd like to know who your friends are, and how to help each other!
Start out by contacting us; let's see what radio comms you may already have, and we'll schedule a "radio check."  It might be on a walkie talkie, a CB radio that's kicking around in the garage, or an actual ham radio.  The number of frequencies to talk on are nearly limitless; hitting the right one at the right time  . . . well, it makes winning the lottery look easy.  We take the angst out of the equation by getting to know each other - in person and on air - before disaster strikes.
